We are looking for an experienced SQL developer to assist us in enhancing some large databases with table records as high as 500+ million which are growing at a rate of about 500k per day.
Applicants need an advanced understanding of T-SQL for MSSQL including but not limited to the following:
- Temporary Tables and Table Variables
- Derived tables and CTEs
- Loops
- JOINs and UNIONs
- A thorough understanding of relational database theory is expected and assumed.
- Databases will need to be maintained using standard relationship constraints, index, etc.
- Roughly 60% to 80% of the applicant’s time will be spent on data analysis via T-SQL and SSMS tools.
- Knowledge of these tools is a must. There could be several days of just reviewing data and trying to develop complex and efficient queries to verify an expected result from the data.
- The majority of T-SQL coding will be used to perform ETL tasks on large data sets. Some of the tasks will be part of another large schedule task and others will be single tasks that will only be done once.
- Data maintenance is a critical component of the work.
- Queries will need to be created and maintained to verify data integrity on a regular basis. This includes tasks such as record counts, business logic verification at the database level, orphan records where referential integrity can’t be maintained, etc.
- All work will be subject to review and must be documented so that it can be explained to other team members during meetings.
